There have been many highlights in our fabulous 40th year, here is a brief summary
* In January we recruited Andrew, another excellent MD and welcomed back Joanne our long serving and much loved accompanist.
* In February we recruited 15 new members expanding the size of the choir by 33%,
We sang at a dozen concerts throughout the year and raised over £1,000
at our 40th Anniversary Concert and held a celebratory anniversary
dinner where we recognised the long service of Colin the recently retired choir's
secretary for the last 9 years.
* We sang on five occasions in December, our
Christmas concert was another “sell out” was well received, and raised record
levels of funding.
The anniversary trip to Belgium and France held special memories, a great way to meet partners and friends and was a triumph for Paul one of our members and a logistical genius.
On the 100th anniversary of the start of World War 1 our itinerary included visits to Tyne Cot the largest world war one cemetery in Belgium and the Menin Gate, Ypres, where we sang. It was particularly moving for members with grandparents and uncles who fought in that war.
We sang with and enjoyed the hospitality of La Boite a Chanson, a community choir from Cergy Pontoise our twin town.
We enjoyed visits to Paris, Monet's Garden, Rouen, Versailles and Bruges, you can see more pictures in the Recent Pictures section
Singing at Rouen Cathedral, was a particular highlight said our Vice Chairman, Jackson, "singing in that huge and impressive space was amazing, it made the hairs on the back of our neck rise."
We booked the tourist train and enjoyed the tour of Rouen.
We enjoyed a "sell out" Christmas Concert at the close of our fabulous fortieth year
